Green Waste
Firstly, consider Conducting an Audit to get your facts straight.. Then:
Reduce:
- Reduce the amount of grass waste produced by mowing more frequently with a mower that can cut and mulch the grass back into the lawn.
- Reduce leaf accumulating, by planting more evergreens and fewer deciduous trees.
Reuse/Recycle:
- Chip/ shred tree branches use for ground cover and mulch. This will conserve water and help to condition your soil.
- Set up a composting facility to handle your green waste. The compost can then be put back into your grounds or packaged and sold.
- Arrange for green waste to be dropped off or collected for reprocessing by others. Contact your local council or garden supply centre for further details.
Make your aims as public as possible. Inform staff about your intentions and why. Offer further incentives to staff to show your appreciation for their efforts. But remember, "waste reduction is everybody's responsibility".
