- Set up waste minimisation in every classroom, administration department of the school and in the playground.
- Develop awareness and a culture of waste minimisation within the school community.
Actions
- Develop curriculum material to encourage and highlight waste minimisation.
- Set up a paper recycling program to be managed by the students.
- Set up a composting program to be managed by the students.
- Re-use plastic shopping bags, cardboard, plastic bottles, milk cartons, egg cartons, and other plastic containers.
- Composting green waste from the school grounds.
- Establishing worm farms.
- Vegetable plots to use compost material.
- Develop a playground litter policy.
- Regular community litter clean ups and monitoring.
Outcomes
- Waste within the school has been reduced.
- Successful recycling and composting programs are in place.
- Students, staff and the parent community support and are aware of the need to reduce waste.
